The Bedside Guide to No Tell Motel — Second Floor has just been released!Edited by Reb Livingston and Molly Arden, it is a collection of sexy poems. Sexy, but not vulgar.
So as not to reinvent any wheels, here is a snippet from the intro:
If you think panty-free celebrities flashing their genitalia to the paparazzi is hot, well God bless and bully for you, you’re living in the right decade – but you will not find poems describing such in this book. Not that these poems ignore the delectable sensuality of flesh. You’ll find plenty ruminating on body and touch. But that is one layer of sexy, one form of intimacy, and these poems do not limit themselves to such. As humans we desire many things from one another, from and for our bodies, our minds and yes, our souls, especially our gasping, suffering souls. We desire connections, we desire to be considered, to be admired and to be remembered. Desire can be titillating and thrilling. It can also be tender, strained, conflicted, solemn, sad, angry and disappointing. Desire can sometimes be reciprocated, appreciated, unheard, rebuffed, squandered and taken for granted. Desire can be joyful, surprising, painful, bleak or outright menacing. Desire can be a gift, a chore or a curse. What we desire, what we crave, what turns us on, is what we find appealing, our own private sexy.
So: go buy ten copies and give them to your friends, your mother, your Great Aunt Selma who desperately needs a little sexy in her life. Or at least buy one for yourself.
